Working Designs announced today on their website that the demo for Lunar 2: Eternal Blue for Playstation has been approved by Sony and sent off to the manufacturer. The demo will be published with the often delayed Vanguard Bandits and shipped to retailers by the end of the month.

Mario Story, to be known as Paper Mario in the US, is scheduled for a Japanese release on August 11th for 6800 yen. The North American release should be December 26th. Mario visits the Star Kingdom, where an object called the Star Stick is. While there, Bowser invades the kingdom, steals the Star Stick, kidnaps Princess Peach (Toadstool) and beats the heck out of Mario. However, the 7 spirits from Super Mario RPG appear and save Mario, who after recovering, does the typical agenda, i.e. defeating Bowser, and recovering the Star Stick and the princess.

Microsoft has started the "Paths of Destruction" event in Asheron's Call. All players are encouraged fight against the new monsters, participate in a new quest, or venture into the world of Solclaim.

Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Calibur has been delayed til November. No word was given from Atlus on the reasons for this title being delayed yet again.

Sega Enterprises has said that there are no current or future plans to release any Shining Force title, compilation or new game, on the Dreamcast. This was in response to recent speculation in Japan that Sega of Japan planned on releasing Shining Force I, II, and III on the Dreamcast with various enhancements.

New Line Cinema is close to finalizing a licensing deal with an undisclosed publisher to develop games based on the Lord of the Rings movie franchise. The movies are set to be released in 2001, 2002, and 2003 and are based on J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. More information should be available within this month. Hopefully whoever the publisher is won't make a game in a similar vein to Interplay's Lord of the Rings, released for the Super NES years ago, which definitely didn't do the fabulous series justice in the least.
