Autumn Tokyo Game Show Preview
|Probably the most important gaming event of the world, the Tokyo Game Show has gained fame even in occidental gamers' minds. The bi-annual event will be holding its Autumn installment next September 22nd to 24th, the first day being press/professional only as usual. |
The tradition of Autumn TGS, usually the less interesting of the two shows, will most likely prove true this time, too. Not many big titles are expected to be shown, especially in the RPG genre. Also, Sega decided in a quite surprising move not to attend the show this year, causing the Dreamcast to have only 8 titles presented at the event, in contrast with nearly ten times as many titles showcasing the PS and PS2!
A total of 18 RPGs will be presented this time, though it seems that companies known for their hits of genre, like Enix and Square, may be absent from the Show (or have not yet announced their intention of attending).
More information will likely surface in September but it already looks like the Autumn 2000 TGS won't be a very rememberable one. Check out the following charts for lineup figures for the different platforms and genres:
The following chart sums up the RPGs that should be presented at the show (or more exactly, the games that fall in RPGfan's coverage: RPGs and Dating/Adventure Sims). Not a lot of titles in comparison with the Spring TGS, moreover half of them will already have been seen at the Nintendo Space World in late August.
