Phantasy Star Online version 2 release date, pay-to-play fee announced.

After weeks of rumors that North America may not see Phantasy Star Online version 2 for the Dreamcast at all, Sega of America denied those rumors, and has now officially announced the server fees and release date for the game.

PSOv2 is to be shipped to North American retailers on September 11, and the online fee - which applies to everyone, even SegaNet subscribers - is $15 US for unlimited play for three months. It of course can be played offline for free (however, you'll miss a few extra features), and the original Phantasy Star Online will remain free.

The retail price for the PSOv2 software itself, however, is still yet to be determined.
