Shenmue III Development Confirmed

In a widely expected move, Sega has officially announced the development of Shenmue III. The third chapter of Yu Suzuki's epic saga of videogames has already begun. As with the two previous chapters, Shenmue III is being developed by Suzuki's AM2, a division of Sega.

At this point, no information concerning a possible release date or target platform has been revealed. Planning Director Kashara only stated that the game will be released on the platform which has the the largest audience.

Shenmue Chapter I - Yokosuka was released for Dreamcast in December of 1999 in Japan and November of 2000 in North America, respectively, while Shenmue II was released in Japan September of this year. The North American version of the game will be coming to Xbox later next year, with the European version still on track for a Dreamcast release at the end of the month.
