Final Fantasy XI Release Date Set

Square has announced that its upcoming online RPG for PlayStation 2, Final Fantasy XI, will be released on May 16th. The 7,800yen (58.06USD) package will consist of two discs; one containing the actual game and a second one containing PlayOnline software, which is necessary, since Final Fantasy XI will only be playable via the PlayOnline service. The monthly fee for playing Final Fantasy XI has also been announced and set at 1,280yen (9.53USD). The use of other PlayOnline services, like chat, is free of charge, as previously reported.

Square has yet to announce a release date for the PC version of Final Fantasy XI, as well as a specific date for the US version of the game, which is expected to be available by the end of the year.
