Square has released some more details regarding its renewed ties with Nintendo. The affiliate company that will be responsible for handling Square's GBA projects has received the name Game Designers Studio Inc. It will be headed by Square's Akitoshi Kawazu. As previously reported, Akitoshi was the producer of the SaGa series and developed Final Fantasy: Unlimited anime series; he is also the head of the "Final Fantasy: Unlimited" game project.
Furthermore, Square has announced that it will receive an investment from Nintendo's Q-Fund to "develop a new type of game." The company, however, made it clear that its activities on the two Nintendo platforms will not effect its upcoming PlayStation 2 releases such as Final Fantasy XI and XII. The PS2 will remain Square's main hardware platform for the future.
