Banpresto's Super Robot Taisen A pits pilots in large robots against one another in strategic battles across large cities. Whenever a pilot attacks another, an animated battle sequence shows the pilot's robot perform their attack on one side of the map, then shows the other pilot's robot receiving the attack. The battles work in phases; on the player's phase, allies and main characters can move and perform actions until everyone has taken their turn, then the enemy forces do the same. Rince and repeat.
Super Robot Taisen A hit store shelves in Japan on September 21, 2001, and no indication has been made for a statewide release, so don't count your pennies. However, RPGFan has some screen shots and a piece of packaging.
