Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale Stay With Interplay

Interplay has announced that it will maintain its license for the Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale series, both of which were licensed to them by Infogrames. While no specifics were available, the agreement will allow Interplay's development studio, Black Isle Studios, to go ahead and develop more games based on the Dungeons and Dragons spinoffs for various consoles and PC. Currently, Black Isle Studios is working on an Xbox version of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance as well as Icewind Dale II for the PC.

Owned by Hasbro subsidary, Wizards of the Coast, Dungeons and Dragons was originally licensed to Infogrames, who still retains the rights to the upcoming Neverwinter Nights.
