Summoner 2 Info and Media

Volition is currently developing Summoner 2, the sequel to one of the first RPGs on PlayStation 2. Summoner 2 takes place 20 years after the conclusion of the original game, and the story is focused on young Pava, the queen of the country of Halassar, who is on a quest to achieve her ultimate destiny of being a god.

Seven characters will be joining Pava in the game:

Sangril is a Munari assassin who also happens to be Pava’s childhood friend.

Taurgis is the general of Pava’s army, and the brother of Pava’s archrival.

Krobelus is an enemy of Pava’s; why he joins Pava is unknown at this time.

Morbazan is a soul devourer and gladiator, who happens to live in the same city as Sangril.

Iari appears to be a robot, made by the gods and given life to help Pava on her quest.

Yago, the teacher of Joseph from the original Summoner, returns in search of his daughter, Rosalind.

Prince Neru’s role is not clear at the moment; different designs have been indicated, such as a leviathan or a dragon.

Players will be able to control three characters at any given time, and over thirty different environments will be available for exploration. Players will learn many different abilities as they progress through the game, such as Poison Arrows, Meteor Arrows and, of course, the ability to summon monsters.

Summoning is handled in a different fashion than that of the original Summoner. As Pava obtains runes, she will be able to summon different monsters from each rune. However, in Summoner 2, Pava will actually transform into the summoned monster to engage in combat with other enemies. Pava can summon 12 different monsters in all.

Summoner 2 does not have a release date set in stone yet, but a 2002 release is very likely.
