The After In Development

Netemp is currently developing The After, a MMORPG that takes place on a distant planet called Atlantis. Players will start the game in a ruined and primitive city. In order to progress through the game, players must not only rebuild the city, but also find clean water, medicine, food, and farm.

As the story progresses, players will have to explore a multitude of locations to find lost technology and magic. As this is applied to cities, the cities will expand and become more advanced. Players have the option to choose to be the general of an army, a farmer to make food for the population, a blacksmith to make weapons for other warriors, and more.

The After is a fully 3D game that has multiple viewpoints, and is completely interactive. Players will be able to interact with almost any object they come across, from a small rock on the ground, to body parts of dead enemies. There are also various weather effects that depend on the time of day and location the player is at. These weather conditions may have a radical effect on the player's game.

Instead of the traditional level system, The After has a skill based system that increases the players attributes as they progress through the game. Players must use different weapons and skills if they are to survive in the world of Atlantis. The battle system itself is done
completely in real time, and enemies will have multiple parts for players to attack, so that each battle will be different from the last one.

The After has no release date scheduled yet; beta testing is expected to commence during Summer 2003.
