Sony Computer Entertainment has announced the date of the 2002 PlayStation Awards; the event will take place on June 6th. Games released for either PlayStation One or PlayStation 2 from May 2001 until April 2002 will compete for the prestigious awards. Among the nominees for the user award are Square's Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X International and Kingdom Hearts, as well as Banpresto's Super Robot Taisen IMPACT, Enix's Dragon Quest IV, and Xenosaga from Namco. The retailers' nominees include Final Fantasy X, Kingdom Hearts, Super Robot Taisen IMPACT and GameArts' Grandia Xtreme.Players can still cast their votes for their five favorite games until May 26th on the event's official website.
Furthermore, all games that have sold more than 500,000 copies in Japan will be honored at the PlayStation Awards.
