Namco has announced its financial results for the fiscal year 2001-2002. The company's operating profit and sales increased by 59% and 19%, respectively. More than nine million copies of software were shipped, including 460,000 of Monolith's RPG Xenosaga Episode 1: Der Wille zur Macht.Namco plans to release a total of 32 titles this fiscal year, with 13 heading to PlayStation 2, 5 for Nintendo GameCube and four for Xbox. However, the company plans to significantly scale back its plans regarding online gaming, due to uncertainties in the online game market.
As previously reported, Namco and Monolith are already busy working on Xenosaga Episode 2, several Tales games, Project Venus and an original, yet-to-be named GameCube RPG.
