Mythic Entertainment, the development studio behind the popular MMORPG Dark Age of Camelot, has shed some light on their newest project, a MMORPG tentatively called Imperator. The game takes place in a future world dominated by the Roman Republic. Yeah, you heard correctly, that very world power that collapsed 1500 years ago. In Imperator, history has taken another path however, and Rome has remained the center of power, uniting not only the world, but also parts of outer space under its Pax Romana. As the game begins, though, threats to the Republic have grown from within and beyond its borders.Imperator is currently in early design stages and, according to Mythic Entertainment, will incorporate classic Roman themes and architectures as well as science fiction elements. Viewing Lucas Arts as its main competition, the company wants its ambitious title to take on Star Wars Galaxies head to head.
