Online Gaming Study Results

The Themis Goup has released a report on online and wireless gaming, which estimates that online gaming will grow to $635 million in revenue by 2003. The estimated industry leaders in online gaming by December 2003 are:

1. Sony Online Entertainment
2. NCSoft
3. Electronic Arts
4. Mythic Entertainment
5. Microsoft Corp.

Themis also estimated the likely popularity of new persistent worlds:

1. Star Wars Galaxies
2. The Sims Online
3. Shadowbane
4. Asheron's Call 2
5. Earth and Beyond

The revenues were based upon a $12.95 monthly fee for Galaxies and $9.95 for the Sims. The full 150-page report, entitled The Themis Report on Online and Wireless Gaming, can be ordered from the firm's website for a whopping $995.
