Nintendo has recently announced the North American release date for the newest games in Game Freak's flagship series, Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire is March 17, 2003. Prior to this announcement, the game was only slated for a "Q1 2003" release.
As expected, the series' first GBA release will feature 100 new monsters, for a total of 350 (!) Pokémon to collect. Also, this will be the first game in the series to not be backwards-compatible with older Game Boy systems, or games. That's right, no trading your level 99 Mewtwo team from Pokémon Silver onto the new game. You're going to have to start fresh. For more detailed information on the games, check out our preview.
Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire are now out in Japan.
