AMD Award Ceremony Report

Yesterday the Digital Media Association gave away its eight annual AMD awards at a ceremony in Tokyo. As previously reported, Square's first venture into the world of MMORPGs, Final Fantasy XI was awarded the "Digital Contents of the Year 2002 AMD Grand Prize". Representing Square's Production Team 3 at the award ceremony were producer Hiromichi Tanaka, scenario director Masato Katou and graphics director Yoshisuke Aiba. Since the game also received the Best Music Composer award, Square composers Naoshi Mizuta and Kumi Tanioka were also in attendance (the game's third composer, Nobuo Uematsu was absent). In his speech Mr Tanaka said not only the development team, but also the 24-hour customer support team and the users had earned this award.

Representing Gan Ho Entertainment, Kazuyoshi Morishita was taking home the award for the best foreign-made game which his company received for its MMORPG Ragnorak Online.
