Following its merger with Enix, Square has announced that its two joint ventures with the world's leading 3rd party publisher Electronic Arts, Square Electronic Arts LLC and Electronic Arts Square KK, have been dissolved. The two joint ventures were set up in October 1998 and since then, Los Angeles-based Square EA LLC has been the exclusive publisher of all Square titles which made their way across the Pacific. The Japanese counterpart to Square EA LLC, EA Square KK will become a solely-owned subsidary of Electronic Arts on April 1st. Prior to this move by Square, Enix has already dissolved its American branch Seattle-based Enix America. The exclusive North American publisher of all games released by Square Enix will be a new company called Square Enix USA, headed by Jun Iwasaki, the president of Square EA LLC.
