Disgaea: Hour of Darkness Preview

2003 has certainly been shaping up to be the year of the Strategy RPGs. Not only have gamers been treated to the soon-to-be classic Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits, but we've got Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Fire Emblem for the GBA on the horizon. PS2 owners should fear not however, as Atlus is primed to bring another shining gem into living rooms this September with Disgaea: Hour of Darkness.

Using a very classic mix of 2D animation with 3D backgrounds and elements, Disgaea looks to bring a host of new and exciting elements to the classic SRPG formula. The fact that this light-hearted adventure is set in a world of demons and ghosts is enough to raise a curious eyebrow. Atlus has always been the purveyor of unique and memorable games and Hour of Darkness doesn't seem to alter the trend.
