Square Enix Takes FF and DQ Handheld
09.25.03 - 6:07 PM

In a joint presentation in Tokyo today, Square Enix and Japanese mobile telecommunications giant NTT DoCOMo have announced the development of Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy for the next generation of cell phones in Japan. The two games will run as i applications on DoCoMo's next generation FOMA models. To demonstrate the hardware power behind the new technology, a 3D model of Final Fantasy VII protagonist Cloud Strife was also shown on one of the cell phone displays (seen below). Be sure to check out the screen shots of both titles in Related Links.

The cell phone versions of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest are expected to be available sometime next year.
