Takara Announces Acquisition of Atlus

Takara, a large Japanese toymaker and game publisher, has announced that they will be buying out Atlus, publishers of the Lufia series and Disgaea. In April, Takara had already purchased 32% stock in Atlus to help bolster its arcade and consumer game business. The success of this move pushed Takara to move from being a shareholder to a full parent company. Takara will purchase an additional 1.7 million shares of Atlus stock on November 4.
