Sony Computer Entertainment Becomes Full Subsidiary of Sony

Sony today announced that following a stock swap, its most profitable division Sony Computer Entertainment would become a full subsidary on April 1st 2004. An improved ability to create new markets by fusing electronics and game technology as well as the strengthening of its semiconductor development operations were cited as main reasons for the move. By implementing these steps the company hopes to accelerate its growth strategy.
Just last month Sony Computer Entertainment president Ken Kutaragi was appointed COO of Sony.
