SOE Adds PvP Server to EverQuest Universe
12.22.03 - 3:47 PM

Sony Online Entertainment has announced Discord, a new EverQuest PvP competition server which will only be up until January 12th, 2004. Each EverQuest account can register one character on this server and then fight it out with his or her fellow users. Those characters who lose a battle and die will not be resurrected, instead the respective players have to start from zero again. As corpses decay after 30 minutes, corpse looters have to be quick if they want to get their hands on the belongings of a fallen character. Without Alternative Advancements, players can reach level 50. An increased experience modifier will allow for faster paced gameplay. The six winners of this deathmatch competition will be the users whose characters are still standing by mid-January and have accumulated the highest point score. Points can only be gained by defeating characters that are within levels of your own character and logically a higher level target will earn you more points. After being defeated, the respective user loses half the points he or she has earned so far. The winners will receive an item named after their character shortly after the release of the newest expansion of EverQuest, Gates of Discord. Furthermore, they will be allowed to transfer their character and equipment from the Discord server to another server of their choice and receive a unique title distinguishing them from their fellow users.
