Square Enix USA Acquires Stake In UIEvolution

Square Enix USA has invested four million USD in UIEvolution, thereby becoming the company's third largest shareholder. UIEvolution is a leading developer of wireless software applications and technology. By acquiring a stake in the Bellevue, Washington-based company, whose strength lies in the development of cross-platfrom, cross-device client-server environments, Square Enix hopes to expand its wireless business in the US. Already last year, the Japanese RPG heavyweight signed an agreement with Verizon Wireless, under which the latter is offering content for mobile devices.
