Dwango Acquires Chun Soft

Dwango today announced that it is now controlling a 59% stake in Chun Soft and has made the company a subsidiary. Founded in 1984, Chun Soft ist best known for its involvement in the early installments of Square Enix's Dragon Quest series as well as the Dragon Quest gaiden Torneko. Dwango on the other hand has worked on Square Enix's popular MMORPG Cross Gate and is currently co-developing Tales of Eternia Online together with Namco.The main idea behind this acquisition is to combine Chun Soft's game development knowledge and Dwango's system architecture know-how, in order to the strengthen the two companies' development capabilities in the two fields of online game and content for cellphones.
