NCsoft Acquires Unreal Engine 3 License
05.13.05 - 3:02 PM

South Korean MMORPG giant NCsoft today revealed that it has inked a license agreement with Epic Games regarding the use of Epic's Unreal Engine 3. NCsoft was the first company to use the Unreal Engine in an MMORPG, and its current flagship title Lineage 2 also employs the predecessor of Epic's newest engine.

In an interview with a South Korean media outlet NCsoft president T.J. Kim confirmed that the company had already began drawing up plans for Lineage 3. Hence, odds are the new Unreal Engine 3 will power the third installment of the highly successful MMORPG franchise.
