Rogue Galaxy Website Goes Live
08.06.05 - 3:10 PM

Sony Computer Entertainment has opened the official website for its upcoming Level 5-developed PlayStation 2 RPG Rogue Galaxy. The development team at Fukuoka-based Level 5 has aimed to create a virtual world which merges fantasy with reality. As usual for a Level 5 game, the visuals of Rogue Galaxy are based on a special cel-shading technique that gives the game an anime touch. The developers also promise a seamless adventure without any loading times.

The game will take place in a galaxy where the inhabitants of the various planets have been fighting each other for ages. In this hostile environment, some people have made trading weapons their occupation of choice, while others roam outer space as sky pirates.

The game's protagonist is a 17-year old lad by the name of Chester. He yields from the desert planet Roza and dreams of traveling through outer space. He is straightforward and full of energy. Despite his sometimes blunt nature, he is a gentle person. Following a certain incident, he becomes a scout for the Dolgengoa sky pirates. The female lead Kisara is the 17-year old daughter of the sky pirates' leader. Despite her cute looks, her character is anything but lady-like and hence she shows no fear among the rowdies in her father's gang. Zeglam is another member of the sky pirates. Whatever he does, he always manages to cause trouble. He often engages in suspicious activities and there are indications that they might be plotting something. Luluka is a female warrior living on the forest planet Julaika. She is very proud, but suffers from a trauma related to a past incident.

System-wise, Rogue Galaxy will boast a real-time battle system featuring combination attacks and deadblows. The player will only control one character at a time, while the other characters will feature their own thinking patterns.

The official website also offers two trailers which can be accessed by following the link provided below.

Rogue Galaxy will be available in Japan sometime in December.
