Shin Megami Tensei Soundtrack Reviews
07.31.06 - 2:19 AM

Shin Megami Tensei is all the rage in Japan, and thanks to titles like Digital Devil Saga, it's becoming somewhat well-recognized in the US as well. In the last six months, Japanese gamers have gotten two titles in this very awesome mega-series. Hopefully, US gamers will be seeing both in the near future. To get your appetite good and ready, we've posted seven reviews from the series.

First, and perhaps most prominent, is the soundtrack for Persona 3. This soundtrack was released in Japan a mere twelve days ago, which was more than enough time for editor Damian Thomas to grab a copy, listen to it a whole lot, and share his thoughts. Nice going, Mr. Thomas!

Damian also took us back to the "oldschool" days by reviewing "Shin Megami Tensei II Sound Relation," an amazing two-disc set of original and orchestral arranged songs from the Super Famicom classic.

Also high on the priorities is music from Devil Summoner: Kuzunoha Raidou (vs. the oppressively-long subtitle). The two-disc OST has been reviewed by reader Derek Strange, and a bonus preorder item featuring exclusive arrangements from Shoji Meguro has been reviewed by reader Connary.

Connary also wrote up reviews for a Sega Saturn / PS1 classic, Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers. Not just the two-disc OST, but also the "hyper rearrange" album. Yeah, it's the real deal.

That makes six. Do you think I would miss out on a big event like this? Heck no. The first game in the spin-off Devil Summoner series is simply "Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner." Much like the SMT2 Sound Relation, the "Sound File" released for this game included an OST disc and an arranged disc. Both are extremely pleasing. Shoji Meguro may be amazing, but those who came before him were, apparently, also amazing.

Does the MegaTen madness end here? Only if we don't get submissions from readers like you who have an opinion to voice! That said, feel free to submit your own reviews.

See you next time!
