Nintendo Announces Wii Virtual Console Line-Up

Nintendo today announced its initial line-up of classic titles available for download through the Wii's Virtual Console. The initial US line-up and will feature 30 games, including The Legend of Zelda for NES and Dungeon Explorer for the TurboGrafx 16, available for 500 and 600 Wii Points respectively.

RPG fans in Japan will have more classics to choose from, as the Japanese list includes 49 Famicom (NES), Super Famicom (SNES), MegaDrive (Genesis), MSX, PC-Engine, and Nintendo 64 games, among them the following six fan favorites:

The Legend of Zelda, Nintendo, Famicom, 500 Wii Points
Castlevania, Konami, Super Famicom, 800 Wii Points
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Nintendo, Super Famicom, 800 Wii Points
Fire Emblem: Monshou no Nazo, Nintendo, Super Famicom, 900 Wii Points
Jaseiken Necromancer, Hudson, PC Engine, 600 Wii Points
Dungeon Explorer, Hudson, PC Engine, 600 Wii Points

Nintendo promises that all listed games will be available this year. Wii owners will be able to purchase 2,000 Wii Point prepaid cards for $20 USD apiece to pay for their downloads.
