SOE Announces Newest EQ2 Expansion
05.10.07 - 8:59 PM

Sony Online Entertainment has announced that the fourth expansion to their popular MMORPG EverQuest II will be called EverQuest II: Rise of Kunark and will be launched on November 13. The expansion will feature throw-backs to the EverQuest expansion The Ruins of Kunark. Rise of Kunark will feature not only zones reminiscent of the original EverQuest, but completely new zones, such as the starting area known as the Islands of Timorous Deep.

"With Rise of Kunark, we’re continuing to build on the high-quality content and rich, exciting environments that players experienced with Echoes of Faydwer," says Scott Hartsman, Senior Producer and Creative Director, Sony Online Entertainment. "By combining new content based on the original EverQuest with new races, zones, quests and items, we expect to deliver a deep and fun experience for EverQuest II veterans and new players alike."

The latest expansion to EverQuest II will also feature a new player race, the reptilian Sarnak, which inhabits Timorous Deep. On top of the new race, zones, quests, and gear, SOE has raised the level cap on Adventure Levels, Tradeskill Levels, and Guild Levels to 80. Additionally, players will be able to mount on the new Kunarkian Rhinocerous and pledge themselves to several new gods for new Blessings and Miracles. Most of the PvE content in Rise of Kunark will focus on the 1-20 and 65-80 level ranges, including solo, group, and raid content.

EverQuest II: Rise of Kunark has not yet been rated by the ESRB, and will be available both as a digital download and boxed game for an MSRP of $39.99 USD.
