SOE Purchases Sigil Games Online

A few years ago, Brad McQuaid broke off from Sony Online Entertainment to form Sigil Games Online and develop the title Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. The purchase will make SOE complete owner of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, as well as other Sigil Games Online properties. Sigil's employees will integrate into SOE's other studios, which include locations in San Diego, Seattle, Austin, and even Taiwan."With an unparalleled team and exceptional product, Sigil has been a creative force in the online games space. We look forward to continuing the vision for Vanguard and to continue to deliver some groundbreaking game play," said John Smedley, President of SOE. Brad McQuaid, the designer of the original EverQuest, will stay on as a creative consultant for Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. Vanguard: Saga of Heroes has sold more than 200,000 units since its January launch, and is available both as a digital download and in boxed form.
