New Sakura Taisen DS Details Announced

While the game's release is still three months away, Sega is slowly but surely disclosing more information on its upcoming DS title Dramatic Dungeon Sakura Taisen: Kimi aru ga tame. The DS debut of Ouji Hiroi's popular brainchild is developed by Neverland Company (whose recent track record includes Shining Force NEO and EXA as well as the two Rune Factory titles). It will not only feature members of the Tokyo, Paris, and New York units in one game for the first time, but also experience a system-related change: As the game's title suggests, the developers opted to turn it into a dungeon RPG.
Dramatic Dungeon's story takes place shortly after the events of Sakura Taisen V. In spring 1929, the Hanagumi members begin their newest theatrical performance, "The Maid of Orleans". However, at the same time, a new, unknown evil is again threatening the imperial capital of Japan. Sticking to the tradition of resurrecting historic personalities, Joan of Arc (spelled Jehanne Darc here) is set to make an appearance in the game. The French hero was supposedly executed 500 years ago. However in the game's present, she re-appears in Tokyo to become the antagonist of Oogami, Sakura, and Co.: Jehanne is aided by her three war buddies: the military commanders Dunois and La Hira as well as the alchemist Gilles De Rais. After hearing of Jehanne's execution, Gill created a strange medicine. This medicine turned him and Dunois and La Hire into demon-like creatures.
By sending in a post card shipping with both versions of the game, fans can also win one of many prices, including Sakura Taisen-branded teacups, bowls, and mug cups.
Dramatic Dungeon Sakura Taisen: Kimi aru ga tame will be available in Japan on February 21st. The standard release will be available for 4,800 yen ($43.48 USD), while the limited edition "All Star Pack" will cost 6,800 yen ($61.59 USD). The latter will include a DS Lite cover featuring the game's logo, three emblem stickers, a pouch and soft cases.
