Square Enix Reveals New FFXIII Details
01.25.08 - 10:16 AM
Since Square Enix tends to release information on Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII in one handy package, we can also offer you some new information on the former PlayStation 3-based game today. The article introduces two new keywords: Falsi and Lusi. The former are beings whose knowledge exceeds that of wise men. They built the Cocoon and select humans to perform certain tasks for them. These humans are referred to as Lusi. Because the power of the Crystal was responsible for the creation of the Cocoon, one could come to the conclusion, that the Falsi and the Crystal are identical, but apparently the story is not that simple.
The article again features the young lady, who was first shown in a trailer last year, looking over the landscape of the Pulse. Dinosaur-like creatures are seen passing by beneath here. It seems, as if those who are exiled by the government of the Cocoon, can go on with their lifes in the Pulse. The young lady apparently is a friend or supporter of Lightning, just like the blonde-haired guy, who summoned Shiva in a trailer shown last year. She happens to be a Lusi selected by the Falsi. Since she is living outside the Cocoon, Famitsuu speculates that the Falsi are at odds with the government of the Cocoon. Whether the game's female protagonist, nick-named Lightning, and the man who summons Shiva are Lusi as well is unknown at this point. The article also confirms the existence of additional summons in the game. So far, only Shive had been confirmed to appear in the game. Courtesy of Famitsuu, we now know that Ifrit, Siren, and Carbuncle are also on board. The role of the summons in the game's story is to help the cursed Lusi.
Square Enix plans to release footage showing the game running on actual PlayStation 3 hardware this year. A PR representative commented to Famitsuu, that 2008 would be the time, when Final Fantasy XIII "begins in earnest".
Final Fantasy XIII has yet to receive an official release date.
