Harrison leaves SCE
02.26.08 - 11:49 PM

Phil Harrison, the president of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios is set to leave his long-time employer on February 29th. The head of SCE's worldwide first party business has been with the company for 15 years and was one of the founding members of Sony Computer Entertainment. Harrison's duties will be assumed by Kazuo "Kaz" Hirai, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment.

Only last week Harrison criticized Sony Computer Entertainment Japan for not moving into social gaming fast enough, leaving this important market wide open for Nintendo and its Wii console. According to Gamesindustry.biz, Harrison might join former Electronic Arts executive vice president David Gardner at struggling third party publisher Atari.
