One of the highly anticipated handheld titles currently in the works at White Knight Chronicles maker Level 5 is the DS-based Ni no Kuni. The game is a joint effort by the Fukuoka-based development studio and Japan's most famous anime creators, Studio Ghibli. Despite having worked on Ni no Kuni's animation sequences for more than ten months, the makers of Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away still haven't completed their work. Joe Hisaishi, the composer behind many of Ghibli's classics is scoring Ni no Kuni.

The game tells the story of a protagonist who is travelling to the parallel world known as Ni no Kuni to revive his beloved mother.

Ni no Kuni will be released in Japan sometime later this year.
