TGS: Capcom Announces Original RPG
Last Ranker in the works for PSP.
09.24.09 - 9:49 PM

Capcom is working on an original RPG titled Last Ranker. The PlayStation Portable-based game is produced by Minae Matsukawa, the producer of Gyakuten Saiban 4 (Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney). Character designs are handled by Tatsuya Yoshikawa who previously worked on the Breath of Fire series and most recently, Devil May Cry 4. Other key members of the development team include noted director Kazuya Niinou (Etrian Odyssey, 7th Dragon), veteran scenario writer Kazushige Nojima (Kingdom Hearts series, Final Fantasy VII, VIII, X, X-2, XIII, etc.) and acclaimed composer Youko Shimomura (Parasite Eve series, Kingdom Hearts series, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, etc.).

The game tells the story of Jig, a young member of a nomadic tribe who has decided to join Bazaruta, an almighty organization that counts every knight of Last Ranker's world among its members. The protagonist aims to become its most powerful knight. Other characters include Len, a female descendant of an old Imperial line; and Faz, once a childhood friend, now Jig's rival and enemy.

Last Ranker, which is on display at the Tokyo Game Show booths of Capcom and Sony Computer Entertainment, will be available in Japan next year.
