Square Enix Releases Chaos Rings, Puts Other Apps On SaleAnd offers a bit of insight into the potential future of Chaos Rings.04.24.10 - 4:04 PM
Earlier this week, Square Enix finally released the iPhone/iPod touch RPG it has been teasing for weeks, Chaos Rings
. Based on initial impressions and iTunes reviews so far, the game has been well-recieved, sitting pretty at the top spot on the RPG charts since release, and is also the top-grossing app in nine countries. The MediaVision-developed title is the first full-length traditional RPG Square Enix has released on the platform, remakes aside. Check out our previous news story
for other details and the game's trailer.
In celebration of this release, Square Enix has also put all of their other apps on sale, from about 20% to 70% off their usual prices. This sale should run until the beginning of May. Note that the following links are for the U.S. iTunes Store:
Final Fantasy - $6.99 (from $8.99)
Final Fantasy II - $6.99 (from $8.99)
Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes - Encore - $7.99 (from $9.99)
Hills and Rivers Remain - $4.99 (from $6.99)
Sliding Heroes - $0.99 (from $2.99)
Vanguard Storm - $3.99 (from $4.99)
Crystal Defenders - $5.99 (from $7.99)
Final Fantasy XIII Larger-than-Life Gallery - $5.99 (from $8.99)
Does this actually make the Final Fantasy XIII Larger-than-Life Gallery - a collection of artwork from FFXIII - worth buying at this lower price? Well, that's up to you.
Finally, via their official Facebook page, Square Enix also teased a potential iPad version of Chaos Rings, which would bring with it higher-resolution graphics. It's not a done deal, as they seem to be waiting to see how well the "small" version of the game goes over with fans first, but it's certainly something they're thinking about.
