For a while, all we knew about 38 Studios was that it was founded by former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling and had two RPGs in production. Well, times are a changing and we now have details on their first game, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

Reckoning, co-developed by 38 Studios and their subsidiary Big Huge Games, is a single-player open-world action RPG. The game takes place in the eponymous world of Amalur, a high-fantasy realm created by New York Times-bestselling author R.A. Salvatore and visualized by renowned artist Todd McFarlane. The big names aren't reserved for the setting and art; Ken Rolston, once lead designer of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and TESIV: Oblivion, is working as lead designer on Reckoning.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is set for release in fall 2011 on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Keep your eyes on RPGFan for more information. Until then, check out the trailer below and our first batch of screenshots, also linked below.
