World of Warcraft Special Events Start Today
Let's kick the Gnomes out of Ironf--Er, retake their city so they can return home (read: Get out of our hair).

Starting today, in preparation for the upcoming Cataclysm expansion, two special events are taking place in World of Warcraft. After years of exile from their homelands, the Trolls and Gnomes will finally be returning home! If you hurry over to the leader of each faction you can begin a series of quests that will eventually involve you in helping them to retake their home. You should also receive a letter via your in-game mail about it.

Operation: Gnomeregan starts you on a series of quests to help the Gnomes retake their home of Gnomeregan, south of Ironforge. Zalazane's Fall is the Horde alternative where you can help the Trolls to reclaim Echo Isles. Both involve huge battles where players can all band together for the greater good of their faction, much like the previous Battle for the Undercity.

Completing either of these events will secure you some cool in-game goodies (one lets you turn into a Gnome for thirty minutes!) and a special Feat of Strength for your achievements page. Get in quick as this event is for a limited time only!
