Pokémon Black & White To Be (Partially) Region Locked
Bad news for importers - looks like you'll have to import a new DSi too.
09.18.10 - 12:39 AM

We know that the Japanese release of Pokémon Black & White is literally upon us as of today in Japan. We also know that some of you will be importing one, or both. But wait, before you click that 'Place Order' button, you might want to ensure that you'll actually be able to play the game(s). Why? As Play-Asia found out after getting their shipment, the games are actually region-locked... partially. According to the retailer, if you have an original Nintendo DS or a DS Lite, you'll be able to play Pokémon Black & White no problem. BUT, if you have a DSi or DSi XL, you're out of luck - unless, of course you have a Japanese one.

For those with a DSi, or who just want to play the games in English, the two titles will be out in North America next spring.
