Pokémon Black & White Breaks Sales Records In Japan
Move over, Dragon Quest IX.
09.24.10 - 2:54 PM

Japanese sales numbers from last weekend are in, and you'll never guess which games set a record for the fastest start for a Nintendo DS title(s). Of course, it should come as no surprise since Pokémon Black & White did reach one million pre-orders this summer. Various reports estimate that the games collectively sold around 2.6 million copies, with Black selling nearly 100,000 more than White. It is also 300,000 units more than Dragon Quest IX's opening weekend, as well as the fastest start for a Pokémon game(s). The latest two titles in Nintendo's ever-popular catch-em-all series also seems to have helped boost sales of DS units in Japan, especially the DSi.

Pokémon Black & White will be out in North America next spring.
