Aksys Brings Jikandia: The Timeless Land To North America
Make your dungeons bite-sized or a seven-course meal.
11.24.10 - 7:52 PM

You might remember us briefly mentioning a game named Jikan de Fantasia earlier this year. This action RPG with a retro feel, from Opus Studio and Idea Factory, hit Japanese PlayStation Portables this past summer, and now it's coming our way.

This afternoon, Aksys Games announced that they will be localizing the title under the name Jikandia: The Timeless Land. If the first part of the game's title wasn't already a clue for those of you who know Japanese, the second part will be: Time will be crucial in the game's missions. In fact you, the player, will set your time limit when entering a dungeon, and what's inside that dungeon - enemies, treasures, traps and the like - depends on the time you set. As well, the more times you play through the game, the more story events you unlock, giving the game lots of replay value. Jikandia will also have a four-player mode using the PSP's ad-hoc infrastructure.

Of course, all of this must leave you wondering about the story itself. After tons of monsters suddenly appeared in the once-peaceful Jikandia, the land was thrown into all kinds of chaos, including the temporal kind. The spirit Temtem, with his newly-discovered power to control time, attempts to summon nine young legendary heroes to help restore peace, but something goes wrong in the process when they travel through the void to meet the spirit. Only Al appears before Temtem, and so he's not only got to help save the land, he needs to find his eight friends in the process.

While Jikandia shares a lot of staff who worked on Half-Minute Hero, it's worth noting that this game isn't its sequel - that's Hero 30 Second, which hasn't yet been announced for an English release. Jikandia: The Timeless Land is currently set for a Spring 2011 release. As well, check out our new gallery (ten screens and a logo) below!
