Mass Effect 3 Gets A New Composer
Bonus: He's known for Requiem For a Dream's score.
02.10.11 - 6:48 PM

In an interview with The Quietus about the score for the recent box office success Black Swan, film composer Clint Mansell let it slip that he's currently working on the soundtrack for a little game called Mass Effect 3. When asked whether he'd ever consider working on scores for other media such as computer games, he answered that he was working on Mass Effect 3's soundtrack this year. Mansell, who has also worked on Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler and The Fountain, likened working on a project like ME3 to being a DJ. You take and blend the many elements as the situation calls for it, such as a character encountering a boss for example - kind of like creating a symphony and being able to break it down piece by piece.

There hasn't been any word on whether Mansell is working on the soundtrack solo, or if other composers are taking part as well. Mass Effect 3 is currently being planned for release next holiday season.
