Yes, Final Fantasy III iOS Is A Remake... Of The DS Remake
Here's a first look in video form.
02.24.11 - 1:18 AM

After Final Fantasy III iOS was mentioned in V-Jump magazine - and given an official website a day later, Square Enix finally answered the one obvious question that everyone was asking: 2D or 3D? According to Famitsu, it's a remake of a remake.

Final Fantasy III saw a 3D remake on the Nintendo DS not five years ago. And the iOS version, due out next March, is a... well, a remake. It's quite a bit of an update, as the graphics will get a high-res look, and the sound quality will also be tweaked. You'll get virtual on-screen buttons that appear when you touch the screen, and in battle you'll directly touch the commands and enemies to attack. The monster gallery is also being updated with redesigned monster cards.

This is the first of Famitsu's hands-on footage with the game:

Final Fantasy III for iOS devices will be available sometime next month.
