Walt Disney Reads The Bible To Dracula & Female PrisonersThis sort of headline can only mean one thing: soundtracks update!02.27.11 - 8:41 PM
Okay, we have some totally amazing music from all over the VGM spectrum this week. Let's start with the big one.
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep & 358/2 Days OST -- Stephen Meyerink, our resident Yoko Shimomura / KH fanboy, has plenty to say about this three disc set of music, which includes music for even more titles than what the album title reveals. That's right, even Kingdom Hearts Re:coded gets a little bit of love here.
Another Bible, as well as Megami Tensei Gaiden Last Bible (II). Three separate album releases from SuperSweep. All Game Boy soundtracks from the early '90s. And though the three soundtracks could have fit on one CD, I'm crazy enough to recommend you still buy them. Well, two of them, at any rate. Do *not* miss these reviews. This is a part of the MegaTen universe you probably didn't even know about. So go get your learn on!
Akumajou Dracula Tribute Vol.2 -- So, last month, Konami published two volumes of "Premium Arrange" material for the Castlevania series. However, Vol.1 was all the NES and SNES games, so it didn't exactly fit the RPGFan coverage criteria. Vol.2, on the other hand, has Symphony of the Night, Order of Ecclesia, and plenty more to talk about. Each track is arranged by a different individual, and this album is just ... whoa. Total "like whoa" material.
And finally, Nippon Ichi Software's dirtier-than-Ar tonelico PSP RPG had a soundtrack release. What RPG am I talking about? Why, Criminal Girls, of course! I still have my fingers crossed that NISA will localize this one. But even if they don't, check out the stellar list of composers and arrangers on this two disc set.
Man, this is just some cool stuff! I know you're disappointed that we don't have reviews for "Myth" (the new Xenogears orchestral CD) or for The Last Story OST -- rest assured, those reviews are in the works. In the meantime, enjoy what we're touting here. And genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, I urge you to get in on those Game Boy chiptunes. MegaTen + oldschool = mind blown. It's a proven formula.
