The ending of
Atelier Meruru: The Alchemist of Arland 3 is not just the ending of one game, but of the entire
Arland trilogy, which started with
Atelier Rorona. As you've seen, a couple of characters from the earlier two games will be joining you in the third, and the multiple endings are an attempt to nicely wrap up the story of as many characters as possible. Different endings will focus on different characters and what their futures holds for them.
Director Yoshito Okamura has also mentioned each of the three central characters of the trilogy will play slightly differently. Totori will remain much the same as in Atelier Totori, Meruru creates items with high firepower, and apparently Rorona won't play the way that some fans may expect.
Atelier Meruru: The Alchemist of Arland 3 is due out on the 23rd of this month in Japan.
