Official Rune Factory 4 Website Opens
Oh, and now you can actually date your love interest before marrying them!

In the last few days the official Rune Factory 4 website was launched and you can find it by clicking here. There isn't a huge amount of content yet, but there is some fancy art so it's definitely worth at least a quick look! Along with the site there have been a number of new details announced for the upcoming title too.

For the first time in the series you'll be able to pick either a male or female character to play as. The story will start off the same either way--with memory loss--but there will be some minor differences throughout depending on your gender of choice. As detailed in Famitsu your hero will either be a young man named Lest (voiced by Kouki Uchiyama) or a young woman named Frey (voiced by Chiwa Saito). Both of them have the ability to speak with dragons through their minds.

Like previous Rune Factory games you will be able to find a love interest and ultimately marry them when you're not busy planting crops or exploring dungeons. Unlike in previous titles, however, there is actually a period of time you can date your lover. Previous games skipped straight from friendship to marriage so it'll be a welcome change to have some bonding time in-between. Whenever you first meet a character who could be a potential love interest, a short movie will play to introduce them. Famitsu have reported two potential partners: girlfriend Margarete (voiced by Aoi Yuuki), an elf who plays music at the dining hall; and boyfriend Vishnal (voiced by Daisuke Namikawa) who is in training to become a butler.

The game is roughly 50% complete and is expected to be released on the 3DS sometime this year.
