CERO Reclassifies Atelier Meruru In Japan
Apparently she's not as innocent as we thought...
07.30.11 - 12:18 AM

We don't often see games get re-rated after their release, but that is exactly what happened with Gust's Atelier Meruru: The Alchemist of Arland 3. The game was originally released over a month ago in Japan with a CERO A rating, which is much like an 'E for Everyone' rating from our ESRB. Japan's rating, board, Computer Entertainment Ratings Organization (CERO) claims that back when originally reviewing the game for rating, Gust didn't supply material that showed some apparent sexual content in the game.

After hearing a complaint, CERO decided this week that the A rating would no longer be appropriate and conducted its own reassessment of the rating. Gust had halted shipments until the game got a new rating. Fortunately for the developer, that happened rather quickly: Atelier Meruru has been rerated with CERO B (12 and over). The new rating and appropriate rating descriptions will appear on the game's new packaging, but everything else remains unchanged.

For more on Atelier Meruru and its recently-announced DLC, check out this post, and the gallery linked below - although it does look fairly innocent in the screenshots save a panty shot or two.
