Dragon Quest X Online Screens, Details
How to adventure both solo, and with friends.
10.27.11 - 10:38 PM

When Dragon Quest X Online was announced, Square Enix had mentioned that you can play the game solo if you so choose. Sure enough, you can round out your party with other players, or simply with AI-controlled characters. To choose other players, you can first view their character status and a preset message before you decide to invite them into your party. The invited player can then indicate how long they're willing to stay in the party, and then the other player (who sent the invite) can accept or reject adding them to the party.

When out exploring, Square Enix has also implemented an auto-follow feature. Like the name suggests, you can set your character to automatically follow another so you don't get lost or lose track of your party. When you come across other parties in battle, you can choose to act as support for the other party.

If you'd rather adventure alone, or if you don't have enough players for a full party, you can select AI controlled characters to fill in, as mentioned. Just go to the local pub and speak to the staff there to recruit an AI. Party members will follow you in a line like previous Dragon Quest titles, but their battle actions depend on what kind of tactics you lay out.

You can become an AI character yourself if you so choose. Similarly, you head to the same pubs to sign up and make your character available. Once you do so your game will end, but as other players use your AI character, you'll gain EXP which you can keep once you log on and retrieve your character. You'll get a report too to see how well 'you' did.

For a number of new screens (almost 40 in total) you'll find our gallery below. In Japan, Dragon Quest X Online is due out sometime next year on the Wii.
