Star Trek Online Goes Free-To-Play In January
Not everyone wants lightsabers in their futuristic MMO, after all.
11.10.11 - 5:08 PM

Though Star Wars: The Old Republic drops just in time for Christmas, that franchise may not be everybody's cup of sci-fi tea. Star Trek Online (not to be confused with Gameforge's Star Trek: Infinite Space), is a Cryptic Studios-developed MMORPG which is going free-to-play early next year, aimed at exploring both familiar and new races and worlds in the universe of Star Trek. As with many FTP MMOs, users will have access to lots of content - and it won't be time limited. You also have the option to purchase individual pieces of content through the in-game store, or getting a Gold membership for $14.99 per month, which gives you more access as well.

The game's new opening cutscene can be watched here.

Star Trek Online for PC goes free-to-play as of January 7th, 2012.
