Final Fantasy XIII-2 Videos And a perfect Famitsu score puts it in Skyrim's ranks. 12.07.11 - 3:09 AM
Just like Zelda: Skyward Sword and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim not too long ago, Final Fantasy XIII-2 received a semi-rare perfect score of 40/40 from Famitsu this week. Three perfect scores from the Japanese publication in a single year is much more rare, but this year has seen many quality releases. Famitsu's reviewers praised the fact that Final Fantasy XIII-2 fixed a lot of problems from the first game, and how there's lots of gameplay this time around.
Dengeki PlayStation's 'Buyer's Guide' review rated the game as an S, which is also impressive. Reviewers here enjoyed the amount of content and the various difficulties, but they didn't quite like the load times. The magazine also had one last interview with producer Yoshinori Kitase and director Motomu Toriyama. Among other things, one item talked about was more bonuses for those with a Final Fantasy XIII save file (it doesn't have to be a clear file). If you have one, your luck will improve at XIII-2's casino, you'll get special monster accessories, and there will be some kind of bonus on the title screen, too.
It was also mentioned that the game will let you save anywhere as well as have autosave, a very common feature in Western titles. The coliseum will host your fights against the DLC bosses as well as contain some story elements. Somewhere in the game you'll be able to get info on what DLC is available. And when asked recently about Sazh and an appearance in Final Fantasy XIII-2, the developers would only say that the game will continue post-release. Of course, this seems to suggest that he will be a part of DLC, but other than the Ezio Auditore costume, post-release DLC hasn't been specified yet.
Some new videos also released int he last couple of days. This environment clip comes from Square Enix Europe. The video below comes from Square Enix USA so it is now all in English.
The Japanese company today released a longer video, on field exploration and the Historia Crux.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 releases on December 15th in Japan, January 31st in North America and February 3rd in Europe.
